So when you’re talking about Oil & Gas and many other industries, in my experience at least, I’d say that at least half of the manufacturers I’ve talked to use OSIsoft PI as their historian. A lot of companies rely on it, though there are others as well.

But what kind of integration do you have within FactoryStudio for OSIsoft PI?

Well, we have a very strong integration. We became OSIsoft partners in 2009–2010, right after the beginning, and we were heavy users of their integration tool called the AF SDK. Because of that, we designed FactoryStudio to run naturally on top of the OSIsoft infrastructure. Whatever PI Systems you have — including the PI Asset Framework — we can use those data definitions and access that data natively, with no programming.

So the FactoryStudio platform can act as a natural extension of the OSIsoft infrastructure in general. And we do have many application cases, including Patch as well, where that was deployed.
