Bypass Tag Creation | With Walker Reynolds

🎙 “You get to bypass the tag creation component” – After our recent announcement about the new #MQTT enhancements for #FactoryStudio powered by #FrameworX, we had a chance to sit down with Walker Reynolds (CEO/Solution Architect at Intellic Integration/4.0 Solutions) for an episode of “What’s In The Box?”.

Here was a key takeaway from his discussion with Tatsoft’s Marcos Taccolini (Founder/CTO) and Tolgar Alpagut, MBA (VP Marketing).

This is going to make the lift so much easier when we connect to brownfield systems. Let’s say I’ve got a legacy ControlLogix PLC and I want to convert that namespace into a Unified Namespace built on MQTT Sparkplug B. Now I can use FactoryStudio to do that easily.

The big difference is: I don’t have to run those ControlLogix tags through FactoryStudio tags anymore. I can take the native tag in the PLC and map it directly into a space in the asset hierarchy — without converting it into a FactoryStudio tag first. There’s nothing else in the market that does this.

Traditionally, what we’ve always done is: the IIoT platform talks to the software, then we move the namespace into tags inside the IIoT platform, and only then do we publish it into the broker. But now we don’t need that step.

Now the software can talk directly to the native namespace, and we can just map it into the asset hierarchy — and the platform takes care of the rest. No tag creation needed. And that makes a huge difference for scalability.

Every tag you create consumes resources. If you can skip that entire tag-creation layer, you’re bypassing overhead that every other system is still stuck with. That’s just genius.
